A downloadable game for Windows and macOS

This is the game I created for Mini Jam 52 - Summit!

This was an interesting project to work on - the first time I participate in a Jam after hearing about them for so long.

I actually didn't have much of an idea on what to work on - at least, until the limitation requirement was announced. With only WASD / Arrow Keys allowed, I got the idea of the gameplay from the most direct translation I have of Summit: the top, or peak of something.

So I created a climbing game, where a bird character climbs on the walls of a cave through a series of levels to reach the peak of the mountain and enjoy the view. You only regenerate stamina from standing on the ground, so if you touch a spike or bat as you climb and run out, you'll fall!

I made all the sprites myself, using a Gameboy style palette because I think it looks nice and I have less problems choosing colors with the limitations. I actually really like the bird character I created, they looks very chill.

I also made all music tracks and sound effects with BOSCA CEOIL. I hadn't previously tried to add music to my projects myself, so I am proud of the results I had with this attempt.

Overall, I'm proud of this project. I playtested it myself and hope everyone else enjoys it too - no matter what rating I get, I enjoy the feeling of finishing a game I enjoyed making. :)

Pretty fun! All of the features and game feel of the climbing are well implemented, like how you can climb down and the stamina bar barely goes down.

I'd say the game needs some sound effects so my ears don't get bored from the silence, but I can't blame you because it's a great game.

Also, do you want a copy of aseprite? I can't imagine having to work in GIMP

Thank you for enjoying my game!

I did spend a good chunk of development time into tweaking the movement speed and stamina duration to try and make it feel right, to limit the time spent climbing but allow for decent lenghts of climbing sections with possible dangers.

I was trying to think of a sound effect for climbing, but I couldn't find a good fit for it and so I just decided to go with the music...

As for GIMP, it's not working so bad for me! I'll plan on maybe getting Aseprite in the future, as I've heard good comments about it, but for now I'm used to GIMP.

Thanks again :)

what music? i didn't hear any

Maybe it's not playing on your build? Sorry, I still have to figure out well building to different platforms
